Bensalem Presbyterian

Church Cemetery

(Established 1705)

2826 Bristol Rd.

Bensalem, PA 19020

Bucks County

The Bensalem Presbyterian Church recently celebrated its 300th anniversary. The cemetery lies behind the church and although it is kept in good condition, due to the age of the headstones, many are wore away and nearly impossible to read. For a reading of the stones made in 1938, go to: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/bucks/cemeteries/benspres01.txt

The Bucks Co. branch of the Vansant family was well represented in the founding membership of the Bensalem Presbyterian Church. According to W. W. H. Davis in The History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, “In December 1710 there were fifteen members at Bensalem…” The membership included Gerrit Stoffelszen Van Zandt’s four sons: Cristoffel (Stoffel) Van Zand, Herman Van Zand, Gerret Van Zand, and Jonas Van Zand.
