About this Site
The Van Zandt Society first commissioned a site to be developed for the organization in 1998. The work was orchestrated by the Editor at that time Muriel Lichtenwalner. We owe Muriel a debt of gratitude for having the foresight to develop the initial site.
In late 2005, the site was refurbished to give it a fresh look and to make it more user-friendly. However, it should be noted that all information previously available on the original site has been preserved, including extensive information provided by our Dutch "cousins" about The Van de Sandt Foundation.
A few additions have been incorporated including:
information about the family's DNA study that might help Van Zandt cousins in the United States and abroad make connections to distant ancestors when historic documentation is lacking.
how to join The Van Zandt Society along with a printable registration coupon.
links to a few Society members' family websites dedicated to Van Zandt research.
a description of the family's newsletter The Van Zandt Record.
preliminary plans for the next annual reunion to be held in Philadelphia.
Plans for the future...
The Van Zandt Society hopes to add to this site more regularly in the near future. Some of the things we hope to include:
profiles about our most noteworthy Van Zandt ancestors;
a list of helpful links and resources to aid genealogists working on the family;
a gallery of historic properties once owned by family members;
a catalog of Van Zandt gravesites;
and a forum for researchers to post questions and answers.
We hope you'll check back from time to time to see what's new. Also, if you have any suggestions for new features, drop us a line at The Van Zandt Society.
